The Lovely Bones
This project is an off-screen re-imagining of a book cover. I chose to work with one of my favorite books — The Lovely Bones. The cover depicts a scene from the novel where the police find a nest with the dead girl’s notes woven between the twigs.
I used hay and hot glue to construct a bird’s nest, including some hand-written notes and the leaves and twigs I collected in my neighbourhood. The title and chapter name were laid out with yarn — a connection to the main character’s hat, that her mum knitted her shortly before her death.
